Step one: identify the exact card
Before value means anything, you have to know which card you’re holding. “A Musiala card” isn’t a thing that has a price — a 2021 rookie-era refractor and a 2025-26 chrome base card are separate markets that happen to share a face.
The card number on the back is the identifier, and Musiala carries a different number in almost every set:

Two numbering traps will cost you money if you skip them:

The four things that set the price
- Set / product line. Premium chrome and optic lines (think Prizm, Select, and the tiers above) carry more than mass-market base issues. Once you know the set, its per-set checklist tells you what else exists alongside your copy.
- Parallel & print run. A colored, serial-numbered parallel is scarcer than the base card it’s based on — and scarcity drives price. - Autograph. An on-card autograph is a different animal entirely and sits well above non-auto versions of the same card — and a certified card autograph is a different market again from signed memorabilia. - Grade. A PSA 10 (or SGC/BGS equivalent) commands a premium over a raw or lower-graded copy. At the top end, the grade is most of the value. Check centering — the most common grade-killer on chrome — before you assume a raw copy grades well.
